How To Wear A Scarf 5 Ways

by Elena Venegoni

Scarves are back and bigger than ever, and the opportunities are endless. This season is all about repurposing and reconfiguring clothing and scarves are no exception. If you’re looking to upgrade your look with a scarf or bandana, here are 5 ideas for how to style it, courtesy of TU Fashion.

Classic Fold and Tie Shirt

If you’re looking for a quick and simple top to make out of a scarf, this is the style for you. It involves folding the scarf on the diagonal into a triangle and wrapping it around your torso and securing it with a knot. You can wear the knot either at the back or in the front depending on the vibe.

Headband/Bandana

My personal favorite way to accessorize using a scarf is to wear it as a hair accessory. You can fold it along the diagonal to make a triangle bandana shape or twist it into a straight line and wear it as a headband.

Necklace Tie Top

For this next scarf styling strategy you need the help of either a mid-length necklace/chain or a stretchy headband. Thread the bandana through the loop then tie in the back for this halter-esque style.

Halter Top

Or, if you prefer, you can return to a classic and turn the scarf itself into a halter. Twist the scarf into a line then place the middle of it at the back of your neck. Cross each side of the scarf to the opposite side of the body and secure in the back. Arrange the fabric to cover the chest as you see fit.

Scarf Belt

An all-too-overlooked way to style your favorite scarf is as a belt. Twist the fabric into a line then thread the scarf through the belt loops before securing it with a tie. You can tie it in a bow or leave it in a loose knot at the front or the back.
