Spray paint: This look is inspired by the concept of performative fashion, the creator of which being Alexander McQueen during his Spring 1999 RTW show. We used conventional paint and spray paint on top of a nude catsuit to create this look. Circulatory: This look is inspired by the internal connections that the circulatory system provides within the body. Just as there is a web of connecting systems inside our bodies, this look provides an interconnecting web using corset boning. View fullsize Skeleton: This look is inspired by the anatomically accurate bone structure inside our bodies. The bone detailing is made from rhinestone and pearl chains, embroidered onto a mesh catsuit to give the illusion that the bones are on the outside of the model’s body. View fullsize View fullsize Reproductive: The slim fitting garment was an ode to feminine power. Inspired by Our Lady of Guadalupe, a tale within Catholicism of “The Virgin Mary”. She is heavily associated with the feminine ideal as well as roses, celebrating women’s power and security within their own bodies. The dress features rose detailing both on the vagina and breasts, drawing attention to the areas themselves while still offering a covering for the bodice. Made with recycled plaid from school uniforms, this Vivienne Westwood inspired corset and a white shirt pressed to perfection give an ode to those who work tirelessly as nurses. Inspired by BDSM culture, this look has a leather and lace embroidered bodysuit, men’s dress pants, and hand cuffs for embellishment View fullsize Lungs: This look serves as a commentary on the vaping epidemic in young adults. The bodice of the dress is in the shape of lungs, embroidered with dying roses to represent the death of tissue after chronic inhalation of toxins, while the gray veil represents the smoke ejected from the lungs after smoking. The look features chains as it represents the eternal bonding these individuals have gone through. The silver bubble skirt represents the glitter than comes from happy eyes View fullsize 1995: 1995 was especially significant, the look as a whole is a commentary on the AIDS epidemic. The denim on denim pieces were made as a tribute to the fashion trends at the peak of the epidemic. The pants features the ACT UP mission slogan “Act up, fight up” on the front and back of the legs. View fullsize Cancer Survivor: this look is head to toe pink in honor of breast cancer victims and survivors as this cause is particularly close to members of our team. The ruffles around the breasts are different sizes to represent the beauty of a post-operation body View fullsize White Coat: this look celebrates the coating ceremony undergone by incoming doctors into the medical field. Naturally, our final look and wedding dress was an homage to this illustrious ceremony with a simple white dress with a floor length lace and white coat placed on top THE PROCESS.
