With Zoe Gofman’s journey, she started in the coolest place: Tulane University! As a former AEPHI (shoutout to them), she was involved in multiple clubs that harnessed her creativity. To her, Tulane was the perfect college for her to be herself. Countless cool individuals saw her potential. This empowered Zoe. Art and imagination flowed through her veins. Located in one of the coolest places in the world. New Orleans is a big melting pot for whimsical artsiness. The French Quarter gave her jazz. Uptown gave her paintings. Tulane University gave her knowledge to process the big world of glitz and glamour.
Prepping: Wanna Be Cool Like Zoe? Let’s Prepare!
How does one prep to become a stylist? Well, in a traditional setting, most would intern for a stylist. Then, hopefully, you become an assistant. In Zoe's words, an assistant is “a stylist’s right hand or left hand”. An assistant does a multitude of roles that allow the stylist to do their job. Making sure fittings are set up, double checking that all the items are in the room during the fittings, etc. In Zoe’s case, it was unique! She didn’t go through the traditional world of styling. You can say fashion chose her! Zoe landed her first client during fashion week. This propelled Zoe into a successful career in styling!
Cooking: A Gourmet Meal Or Delicious Outfit?
Let’s finally cook up the perfect outfit! Zoe Gofman has several types of works: advertising appearances, and editorials. When it comes to celebrities, they have several types of outfits they want to achieve. It could be red carpet or street styling. So, how does she create the perfect look? First, she asks them about them. Getting personal with it; she asks about their goals for the look, and why they chose her as their stylist. Together, she and the celebrity choose a creative direction. Second, she creates a mood board. A tone is created. Third, Zoe reaches out to brands and designers that would emulate that specific mood board. Fourth, a fitting is in session! Dress To Impress comes to life! Fifth, during the day (if it’s a red carpet), make sure the celebrity is ready to go! Lastly, the celebrity catwalks onto the red carpet or elegantly graces the “concrete jungle where dreams are made of” (New Yorkers, you get it!). Her end goal is empowerment. In her words, “I get to make other people feel amazing. Feel like you can kill people.” That’s what fashion is all about. Rocking the trendiest pieces and looking cool while doing it!
